Hi Steve,

Thanks for your call yesterday. You may have seen the article in today's Gloucestershire Echo regarding the protest where we have praised the cooperation that we have had from yourself and Mark. Thank you again for that help and cooperation.

As discussed yesterday, we do want a statement from Gloucestershire Police prior to the show on your position as regards our demand for a police investigation of the A-10 pilots for violation of the Geneva Convention and breach of international law in the use of depleted uranium (DU) munitions. As you have probably also seen, the petition for a police investigation is attracting new names by the day and many people are asking what response we have had.

We believe that it is vital that a criminal investigation is carried out. Not only is the evidence overwhelming that depleted uranium  causes birth defects and environmental degradation, but there is no viable counter evidence from the military that its use is safe.

Thus, fundamentally it is no longer our responsibility to prove definitively that DU is the causing agent. It is for the military to prove that DU does not cause the cancer and birth defects that are now so prevalent in every theater of war and that this should be tested in court.

Violations of International law and the Geneva Convention have historically been carried out by state on state investigations, were the victorious state instigates the investigation. However, with this potential breach of the Geneva Convention and international law, the situation is different as we and our allies are the potential perpetrators. This makes it more important than ever to ensure that the law is upheld. If we take no action, then we send the message that the Geneva Convention and international law is redundant and we will slide into a world of total chaos.

I look forward to working closely with you during the Air Tattoo and your reply.

Kevin
